Blijburg beach

Blijburg beach

The Blijburg beach is one of the nice extras that came with the IJburg city extension, a part of the city that is currently being build. As with most Dutch construction sites there happens to be a lot of sand, and because IJburg is an island there is also water. Water + sand = beach = Blijburg!

This beach is without doubt the best one in town and very popular with the locals. There is stuff to do for everybody (that is, besides lying on the beach).

You should be able to swim in the relatively clean water, also the sand is as good as it gets!

The next best alternative to this beach is actually going to the 'real' beach in Zandvoort!
