The Dappermarkt is one of the oldest and largest street markets in Amsterdam, it attracts people from all over town and even out of town (especially on Saturdays). In 2006 it won the "best national street market" prize.

The market is located in the eastern part of the city and is known for its low prices and worldly atmosphere. You can find almost everything you need: flowers, clothing, tools, groceries, snacks, books, etc.

In the Dapperstreet itself and in the streets around the market you can find some typical Amsterdam coffee houses in which the old locals still meet each other and drink their beer or cup of coffee.

If you are visiting the Dappermarket you could also visit the Javastreet ("little Turkey") or the Y brewery, which are both within walking distance from the market.
