It's Kwakoe time! What started out as a local soccer tournament has grown into a true international multi cultural festival in which soccer only plays a minor role.

Besides the tournament the main attractions of the festival are its delicious Surinamese food and drinks, the many market stands, music, activities and of course the possibility to parade amongst its many visitors.

The festival is named after the Surinamese Kwakoe statue, which honors the abolishment of slavery.
