Lloyd hotel & cultural embassy

2007-05-09 | Rating: 8 out of 10

The Lloyd hotel is housed in a building with quite some history. It has been built as a hotel for Dutch emigrants waiting for their ride out of the country and it also has been used as a prison. It has been restored artistically and now is a hybrid hotel that caters both those with a big budget and those with a medium budget.

All rooms are designed by an architect and they range from 1 star rooms to 5 star luxury rooms.

Although you might think that 1 star rooms cannot be expensive, they actually are! It's definitely not a hotel for backpackers.

The 'Cultural embassy' part of the hotel organizes different (musical) events on Monday nights for which no admittance is charged. Check out the Lloyd website for details.

The hotel has a restaurant in which most hot meals are under 10 euro's so that's not bad, lunch prices are about the same though.

The hotel is not located in the city centre, but the high-speed tram will take you to the central station in less than 5 minutes. The hotel is located in the eastern docklands, an interesting part of town in which monumental shipping industry buildings are mixed with modern housing flats.
