Just seconds away from the Kalverstraat shopping street you can find the 'Civic Guards Gallery' in which enormous 17th century paintings from several Civic Guard groups are displayed. Coming from a busy shopping street and arriving in this tranquil surroundings is a treat in itself.

The most famous civic guard painting is Rembrandt's 'Night watch' painting, which is on display in the Rijksmuseum near Leidsesquare.

The gallery is basically a public street with a glass roof and has free access. It is part of the beautiful AHM (Historical Museum), which is worth a visit as well.

Around the corner you'll find the typical Begijnenhof houses, so have a look there as well.
